A wild cat is a beautiful cat, also known as a swamp cat. It is a medium-sized cat found in the countries of the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Its preferred habitat is areas with high rainfall and dense vegetation.
A wild cat can range in color from reddish brown to reddish gray. Its legs are relatively long and there are no spots on the body. It is the most common and widespread wild cat in Pakistan, but it is especially common in swampy areas near rivers. Apart from the fertile plains, it is also found in the mountainous regions of Pakistan. It has a good population in the province of Punjab and Sindh. It is also common in the deserts of Thal and Cholistan. However, its population is less in southern areas of Balochistan province and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Besides, it is almost non-existent in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. It has also been occasionally seen on the outskirts of Quetta city in Balochistan.
Wild cats are usually found alone or in pairs. It mostly comes out to feed at night but is often seen during the day. His running speed is quite fast. Their diet consists mostly of small birds and mice, but they also prey on larger animals. Sometimes they also attack domestic chickens etc. at night and can cause damage.
